The Evolution of Utility Resource Planning: Designing for Disruption

December 15, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

$30 – $60

The energy system is currently undergoing a massive transformation. This forum will explore how the IRP process could evolve to accommodate a more diverse electric generation system and changing consumer demands, as well as support balanced investment in a more efficient, more renewable, and lower-carbon grid.

Additionally, this forum will explore the following questions:

  • How is the shift to more distributed resources changing utilities’ roles and relationships to the grid? How are these changes impacting the planning process that utilities undergo every two years?
  • How do we accommodate more and more uncertainty in the planning process while also building in more resilience?
  • How might the relationship to customers and stakeholders change along with other changes to the way planning happens (inside and outside of the formal IRP filing process)?
