About MEP

The Minnesota Environmental Partnership (MEP) is a statewide coalition of environmental and conservation nonprofits. Together, our coalition members and supporters work for climate action, environmental justice, and a healthy Minnesota through policy initiatives, public education, and community events.

Our coalition exists to help diverse environmental nonprofits be successful by working together. Our staff achieves this mission by providing tools and forums to make our members – and our coalition – stronger. We create and organize various services, including communications, trainings, meetings for our members with policy makers, news and information gathering, and more.

Vision

Minnesota puts people and planet first to ensure a prosperous and sustainable future for all.

Mission

The Minnesota Environmental Partnership is a coalition that strengthens member effectiveness and builds collective power to secure a healthy environment for all Minnesotans.

Equity Statement

MEP is committed to focusing on Environmental Justice and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the core of our work. We acknowledge that the environmental community has much work to do to address the deep, systemic inequalities in our organizations, our state, and our nation. Read our full equity statement.

History

In 1998, the leaders of several environmental nonprofits decided that in order to achieve what’s best for Minnesota’s outdoors, our community needs to work together in a structured, official way — and from that, the Minnesota Environmental Partnership 501 (c)(3) nonprofit was formed. Since then, MEP has been a leading voice in fields such as regenerative agriculture, protecting Minnesota’s dedicated environmental funds, and restoring our Great Lakes.

Coalition of Members

MEP is made up of more than 70 organizations, each with its own expertise and focus on protecting the places we call home.
