The Minnesota Environmental Partnership (MEP) is a statewide coalition of environmental and conservation nonprofits. Together, our coalition members and supporters work for clean energy, clean water, and clean transportation through policy initiatives, public education, and community events.
Our coalition makes a difference for Minnesota. In 2011, MEP was named the #1 high-impact environmental nonprofit in Minnesota by more than 175 local experts.
Minnesota puts people and planet first to ensure a prosperous and sustainable future for all.
The Minnesota Environmental Partnership is a coalition that strengthens member effectiveness and builds collective power to secure a healthy environment for all Minnesotans.
Our coalition exists to help diverse environmental nonprofits be successful by working together. Our staff achieves this mission by providing forums for collaboration and offering capacity building services that make our member groups, and our coalition, stronger. We create and organize various services, including communications and capacity building trainings, meetings for our members with policy makers, news and information gathering, networking opportunities, and more.
MEP is committed to focusing on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the core of our work. We acknowledge that the environmental community has much work to do to address the deep, systemic inequitalities in our organizations, our state, and our nation. Read our full equity statement here.
In 1998, the leaders of several environmental nonprofits decided that in order to achieve what’s best for Minnesota’s outdoors, our community needs to work together in a structured, official way — and from that, the Minnesota Environmental Partnership 501 (c)(3) nonprofit was formed.
Now, more than 70 nonprofits throughout the state are members of MEP and work together on the most pressing issues facing Minnesota’s Great Outdoors by sharing information, planning and implementing policy campaigns, and “speaking with one voice” on critical environmental issues.
