LSP Prairie Pothole W. Minn. Bike Ride Fundraiser

July 22, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

  • RSVP to Robin Moore, LSP, 320-269-2105, rmoore@landstewardshipproject.org

The Land Stewardship Project’s Community Based Food Systems Program is holding its bike ride fundraiser in Pope County, Minn., winding through some of the most gorgeous prairie in the state. It is 42 miles for the full circuit, but there are several points to join us for a shorter route. It’s a great opportunity to see a piece of Minnesota that many people don’t know much about. We will stop at The Nature Conservancy’s Ordway Prairie for a prairie walk with LSP’s Bryan Simon, looking for prairie blooms and learning about different species. We are trying to recruit more local naturalists for this too!

The circuit starts at Monson Lake State Park, goes up to Swift Falls, to Terrace Mill, Minn., to Ordway Prairie and back down to Monson State Park. It’s a great way to get to know the area, see both wild and cultivated spaces, and go on a fun ride with quality people.

The fundraiser part works like this: You must have at least one sponsor to ride with us (it can be yourself). The suggested minimum donation is $1 per mile, per sponsor. There will be a local foods fundraiser dinner the evening before at Swift Falls County Park.

For more information, contact LSP’s Robin Moore via e-mail or at 320-269-2105.
