How Climate Change Affects Birds

April 3, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

John Anderson from Conservation Minnesota will be presenting an overview of the National Audubon Society’s recent study on how climate change is affecting birds. Topics will include how climate change is affecting birds in North America and what we can learn from birds about climate change. According to Audubon’s “Birds and Climate Change” report, shrinking and shifting ranges could imperil nearly half of U.S. birds within this century.  The Audubon study is the broadest and most detailed study of its kind, and it’s the closest thing we have to a field guide to the future of North American birds.

John Anderson has a name that screams Minnesotan (despite the fact that he was born in Berkley, California). His resume includes a stint as a census worker that allowed him to learn a great deal about the way people choose to interact with the government. Anderson serves as Conservation Minnesota Community Coordinator in the west metro. In this role he works with community leaders and people who want to protect Minnesota’s Great Outdoors throughout the region.
