Fully Charged: Can Minnesota transition to electric buses?

March 30, 2016 @ 7:00 am - 8:30 am

$20 – $45

The City of Duluth recently received a federal grant to purchase six electric buses and several other Minnesota communities are currently considering them, including the Twin Cities. Indianapolis, Seattle, and Dallas are already on the road to electric bus systems that offer reliable transportation, reduced diesel consumption, and reduced air pollutants. Proterra, the country’s largest electric bus manufacturer, has a goal to move bus fleets away from fossil fuels to electric vehicles. They believe that a city’s decision to blindly re-order 500 diesel buses is similar to deciding to build a new coal-fired power plant in the middle of the city.

Join Fresh Energy for a conversation with Matt Horton, vice president of sales and marketing for Proterra, and Shawntera Hardy, deputy chief of staff for Governor Mark Dayton, to explore why and how Minnesota communities can transition to electric buses and what it will take to get there.
