Will this be the year that we make Minnesota a solar leader? With the start of the new legislative session, we have a greater opportunity than ever before to tell our legislators that we want solar.

Last week, the Sierra Club asked supporters to write to their legislators urging them to pass a 10% solar standard by 2030. According to a 2012 poll, nearly 90% of Minnesotans support an increase in solar electricity projects. We have the solar resource potential and the willingness to change, now we just need a little more push.

To keep the solar conversation going, the North Star Blog is launching solar blog posts every other Tuesday during the legislative session. We’ll feature everything solar-related we can think of, from solar panel installations, solar info 101, to interviews with solar experts and beyond.

We’d love to have you participate! Do you have a solar story to share? Did have solar panels?  Solar expertise? Maybe you’d just like to talk solar with us. If so, leave us a comment below the post—we’d love to hear from you!

If you haven’t already, take a minute to email your legislator to let them know that you support the solar standard. The more people write to their state elected officials, the more they are aware that solar power is on our minds!
