Zero Waste Organizer

Clean Water Action Minnesota

Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund are national organizations dedicated to promoting clean, safe, and affordable water, as well as protecting the environment, health, and economic well-being. Clean Water Action focuses on preventing pollution, creating environmentally safe jobs, and empowering individuals to participate in democracy. Clean Water Fund organizes grassroots coalitions and campaigns to safeguard various aspects of life, including the environment, health, and economic prosperity.

Clean Water is currently seeking a driven Zero Waste Organizer to join its ReThink Disposable program, which addresses the global waste crisis by collaborating with food operators to implement cost-saving changes in food operations. The candidate will engage with businesses ranging from small family-owned establishments to large institutions, aiming to reduce the nearly 1 trillion pieces of disposable food ware and packaging used annually in the US. With a focus on eradicating single-use disposables and advocating for policy changes, the organizer will work to prevent further pollution of waterways and mitigate the disproportionate impact of waste on low-income communities of color. This role entails extensive in-person outreach, requiring strong persuasion skills and the ability to build relationships quickly, particularly with businesses, schools, and local governments throughout Minnesota, where the program will be implemented.

A percentage of this position will also assist with Greater Minnesota organizing, town hall planning, and relationship building.
