Wetland Planting

September 11, 2014 @ 12:00 am

Free

Join other River Gorge Stewards volunteers and staff from FMR and Saint Paul Parks & Recreation as we expand the native plant/restored area at this significant riverfront park! Volunteers will help install native wetland plants in to receive water from a large-scale native-prairie berm previously planted by FMR volunteers. This will help prevent erosion, build better soils and filter stormwater runoff pollution before it can reach the river. the plants will also provide much-needed urban wildlife habitat.
As always, staff will provide all guidance, tools, and gloves needed for a productive and fun event. Children accompanied by a parent or guardian are welcome.
Photos from a previous demonstration prairie tending are available on FMR’s Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/friendsmissriv/sets/72157624444988818/with/4768099454/.
