Unveiling the World’s First Beer with Solar Honey

March 22, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Combining a few of the world’s greatest things, we are collaborating to create the first-ever craft beer made with Solar Honey. Join us at 56 Brewing’s garden to growler taproom for this special event to celebrate and try this one-of-a-kind beer. Owners and brewers Kale Johnson and Nick Chute drew on inspiration and input from farm-to-table innovators from Spoon and Stable to create a deliciously crushable crisp summer beer.

Proceeds from the happy hour will be donated to Fresh Energy. All are welcome to join us at this free event. Registration is encouraged but not required. Hope to see you there!

What is Solar Honey?
Until recent years, cheap turf grass or gravel was placed under solar panels. Then, through Fresh Energy’s Center for Pollinators in Energy, we saw an opportunity for a win-win for solar, conservation, and agriculture with pollinator-friendly solar. Now, solar sites are planted with deep-rooted native flowers and grasses that provide abundant habitat and healthy food for bees and insects that benefit agriculture, as well as benefiting butterflies, birds, and other wildlife that help make Minnesota great.

Our friends at Bolton Bees work with solar developers, and with companies who purchase solar energy, to place and manage beehives at pollinator-friendly solar sites. Solar Honey is a trademark exclusively used for honey produced on or adjacent to a pollinator-friendly solar array.

This event is free and open to the public.
