Site Assessment for Beginners

January 26, 2013 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

$50
Do you want to increase your growing success?Do you want to deepen your ability to work with the land?

Do you want to become an expert on your own garden or farm?

Site assessment is the first step in good permaculture design. Every site is unique and a successful design is based on observing and understanding the human and natural capacities available at the site. This four-hour class will discuss data collection, base maps, zone and sector analysis, identifying design drivers, and explore critical relationships for jumpstarting a healthy growing system. We will do small group design exercises and use sections from Map Your Place: A Permaculture Workbook for Growing Food as a resource. The goal is for you to leave the class with an understanding of site assessment and the confidence to do it at your own site.

**Please bring a paragraph describing your vision and goals for your site along with photos or drawings if you have them. Also bring $5 to cover the cost of materials for Map Your Place.
