Precious Waters Film and Discussion: Protecting our Water from Sulfide Mining

May 29, 2013 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Sulfide mining is a toxic type of mining that has never been done in Minnesota, and threatens to release acid and toxic metals that could pollute our rivers and groundwater for hundreds of years. The short film “Precious Waters,” produced by the Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness, takes a hard look at the sulfide mining industry’s history of failed predictions and toxic pollution, and the potential impacts on northeastern Minnesota from proposed mines. An update, discussion and opportunities to take action will follow the screening. Sponsored by the Sierra Club North Star Chapter. RSVP / more info: Beccy at beccyzkerr@gmail.com or call 612-659-9124 ext. 306.
