Ensia Live: Futurist Jamais Cascio

Featuring a performance by Ribinic Circus

How can we prepare for an uncertain future in a changing world? In this compelling talk, internationally renowned futurist Jamais Cascio will share his thoughts on how foresight—the practice of systemic thinking about different possible futures—can help us solve Earth’s grand environmental challenges. Drawing on nearly 20 years of experience, Cascio will explore the social, technological and cultural factors that shape how we address big problems and sketch out a set of scenarios for a sustainable future. He’ll also talk about unusual research he’s done related to environmental futures, from the carbon footprint of cheeseburgers to the ethical dimensions of geoengineering. Cascio’s presentation will be complemented by an aerial arts performance by Ribnic Circus.
