Take part in the first invasive species removal at Hampton Woods

May 1, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Hampton Woods is the largest contiguous oak forest in Dakota County, providing critical habitat for forest-dwelling animals, especially birds. This site is especially important since much of the surrounding area is farmland.

Thanks to an FMR partnership with Dakota County, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and local landowners, 191 acres of Hampton Woods is permanently protected as a Wildlife Management Area. Come be part of the first volunteer event at this impressive site.

Volunteers are needed to assist with hand-pulling invasive species from the forest floor. We will focus our efforts on removing the extremely invasive plant garlic mustard. FMR staff will provide identification and removal guidance – no previous experience is necessary.

Learn more about Hampton Woods and enjoy an aerial flyover in “Big woods now protected in heart of Dakota County.”

As always, all are welcome. However, space is limited and registration is required.
