The Dakota Access Pipeline is an oil pipeline in the beginning stages of construction. But construction has recently been halted by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe (SRST), whose reservation lies just South of where the pipeline will be laid. The tribe is protesting the construction of this pipeline because Dakota Access has plans to lay the pipeline under the Missouri River, which is the reservation’s main source of drinking water as well as 18 million other people.
Join us for a South Minneapolis community gathering with music and poems. Please bring $10 for an entrance fee, and if possible a little extra to donate. All funds raised will go to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s Legal Defense Fund: https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/d19fAf
