Hastings Area Birding Festival

April 19, 2014 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

$2.50

Celebrate the arrival of spring by learning about our region’s many bird species. Friends of the Mississippi River is proud to support the Hastings Environmental Protectors, the City of Hastings and Carpenter Nature Center’s Birding Festival for a second year.

This year’s theme is Landscaping for Wildlife!

Highlights include:
• Classes and talks such as the main presentation “Landscaping for Wildlife” with the esteemed Carrol Henderson, as well as “Introduction to Birding” and “Raptors 101”
• Bird banding demonstrations
• Guided bird trips in the Hastings area, including a field trip to the Sand Coulee Scientific & Natural Area, a rare prairie FMR helped conserve and being restored by FMR Vermillion Stewards volunteers via invasive species removals, seed collections and other restoration events

There also will be a Youth Big Day Birding Competition in which kids can team up with friends or siblings to try and see the most bird species in one day!

A schedule for the day and additional information is available on this flyer.

The fee for this event is $2.50 per person, or $10.00 per person with box lunch.
