MEP will be joining with others for a Clean Energy & Jobs Day of Action on Monday, April 22 to say we want a sustainable energy future. Hundreds of people from more than 50 Minnesota environmental, labor, faith-based, business, and youth organizations will be meeting with their legislators to say they want more Clean Energy & Jobs NOW.
Six years ago, Minnesota took a big bipartisan step to cleaner energy and a stronger economy when our legislators passed our current Renewable Energy Standard requiring 25 percent of our state’s energy to come from renewable sources by 2025. Our state has created jobs and clean energy industries. But we need to do more, and we can’t afford to wait.
Earlier this year, Governor Dayton called on Minnesotans “to work again with our state’s visionary clean energy advocates, large energy providers, large energy users, other stakeholders, and my administration to use your past achievements as springboards for Minnesota’s next big leap toward a sustainable energy future.”
We must now pass legislation to promote clean, renewable energy; reduce costs and red tape for these industries; and promote energy efficiency to ensure family-supporting jobs, clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and a preserved natural environment for future generations to come.
We need this to be the biggest Clean Energy and Jobs Action Days in Minnesota history, but we can’t do that without you. Will you join us?
