Next Generation Environmental Congress

February 24, 2013 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The Minnesota Youth Environmental Network is partnering with MPIRG and YEA! MN of the Will Steger Foundation to host a two day event that offers young people an opportunity to influence the future of Minnesota’s environment.

There is currently a HUGE opportunity to pass legislation that supports clean energy in MN this session. We haven’t seen an opportunity like this since 2007 and we will build grassroots power to make this opportunity a reality. In addition to mobilizing for a necessary movement, we are interested in what you are working on in your community. We will host a number of workshops that aim to accentuate your current efforts or plug you into opportunities across the State to take immediate action on issues of your concern.

This two day event is a preamble to the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board’s (EQB) Minnesota Environmental Congress on March 15th. The EQB is a “super-agency” of all state environment agencies and their March 15th event is intended to be a conference of organizations, agency leads, and policymakers in order to provide the Governor with several succinct policy recommendations.

Sunday, Feb. 24th will be a half day event at U of M St. Paul campus student center that will include: Introductory speakers, a planning session for a movement in support of the Environmental Congress (March 15th), and grassroots workshops. The day will come to a close with several hours of food, networking, and possibly bowling!
