Energy Coordinator

City of St. Paul

Salary Range: $75,088.00 – $105,518.40 Annually

The Energy Coordinator works to expand the City of Saint Paul’s use of renewable energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve the City’s resilience to the effects of climate change. This position leads the implementation of the City’s Carbon Neutrality and Renewable Energy Action Plan unanimously approved by the City Council in late 2019. Key work with project management and facilities staff across city departments on energy saving projects such as upgrading lighting, replacing HVAC systems and other cost saving measures to meet the City’s energy goals.

The Climate Action and Resiliency Plan (CARP) challenges the City of Saint Paul to be carbon neutral by 2030 and to reduce building-level energy consumption by 30% of 2009 levels by 2040. The Energy Coordinator position is tasked with cost-effectively managing the energy resources purchased and consumed by the City across approximately 3 million square feet of building space in order to achieve this goal.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Natural or Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Business, or related degree, and four years of progressive experience in energy efficiency or conservation.

Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver’s License or equivalent out of state driver’s license.

Professional experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis. A combination of education and experience must total eight years or more.

Preferred Qualifications:

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Certification, Certified Energy Manager, Energy Management Professional Certification, or Professional Engineer License.
