About the organization: Greener Pastures is a start-up 501c(3) nonprofit organization working on a mission to help our food system move away from factory farming and towards humane, sustainable, just food & farms. Based in Minneapolis, Greener Pastures uses beautiful visual and culinary storytelling to help consumers get the education, inspiration and resources they need to vote with their dollar for a better food system and take grassroots action to reshape the food policy landscape. Greener Pastures conducts visual storytelling and education, Farm-to-Table Dinners, consumer-to-farmer Farm Matchmaking, and advocacy.
Position Overview: Greener Pastures is seeking to hire an experienced part-time Communications Manager to oversee content creation, dissemination, and audience engagement across its email and social media platforms. The Communications Manager will work with the Executive Director, staff and Board Members to share engaging information about Greener Pastures’ mission and programs, creating onramps for stakeholders to utilize Greener Pastures’ services, volunteer, donate, and enter collaborative partnerships.
Position type: Part Time (aprox. 0.15 FTE)
Responsibilities:
- Work with staff and Board Members to gather and synthesize important organizational activities and updates suitable for email and social media content.
- Populate and manage Greener Pastures’ content calendar.
- Regularly update Greener Pastures’ Instagram, Facebook, and email list with engaging and relevant information for farmers, eaters, and community partners.
- Design graphics suitable for social media content including posts, Reels/Tik Toks, and stories.
- Copywrite for emails and social media captions.
- Engage audience members to drive organizational goals, including event sales, donations, and other marketing campaigns.
- Maintain professional engagement with Greener Pastures’ audiences, partners, and target stakeholders on Instagram/Facebook, YouTube and other platforms.
- Monitor and create reports on analytics and content performance.
- Implement new and best practices for content dissemination and social media management.
- Assist with creation of the annual report.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have at least 3 years of experience in a social media management, content creation, marketing, and/or communications position with a proven track record of audience engagement and conversion.
- Have completed a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Be a strong copywriter and able to clearly and competently synthesize complex information suitable for differing audiences/stakeholders.
- Be fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Be highly proficient in mainstream social media platforms including Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Tik Tok, and YouTube.
- Be experienced creating and editing culturally relevant vertical video such as Reels/Tik Toks/YouTube Shorts.
- Have experience managing, maintaining, and/or stewarding external partnerships over social media.
- Be experienced in email marketing best practices, including campaign automation and list segmentation/targeting.
- Be a highly independent self-starter who thrives working in an environment with minimal supervision.
- Be able to compile, analyze and synthesize analytics reports to inform audience insights and takeaways for organizational programming and wider communication strategy.
- Be proficient in Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or another comparable platform to create engaging and brand-appropriate imagery and designs.
- Work well in a diverse environment and help deepen Greener Pastures’ commitment to racial justice within the food system and within the organization.
Location: Remote.
Reports to: Sarah Carroll, Executive Director
Hours: 5-7 hours per week (10-14 hours per pay period), flexible schedule. Candidate will be expected to join regularly scheduled all-staff meetings.
Compensation: $22.00/hour and generous benefits package including PTO, sick time, and a technology stipend.
