Join Environment Minnesota, Citizens Climate Lobby, Cool Planet, and nationally-recognized meteorologist and entrepreneur, Paul Douglas, in a discussion about the effects of global warming on Minnesota.
Our climate is changing at an alarming rate–from giant hailstorms to polar vortices, Minnesotans are already experiencing extreme weather. Are weird weather events becoming Minnesota’s new normal? Nearly 100 percent of Minnesotans live in counties hit by at least one recent weather-related disaster. Ranging from devastating droughts to ferocious flooding, these disasters cost Minnesota billions of dollars and will only get worse with global warming.
Paul Douglas is Minnesota’s first CBM broadcast meteorologist with over 33 years of experience in broadcasting, radio, television, web production, printing, and reporting. A Republican, Douglas frequently gives talks on something he says his “Republican friends are loath to admit out loud: climate change is real.” Fortunately, the Environmental Protection Agency has proposed the first-ever national standards to limit carbon pollution from power plants. This is a critical first step, but we need to continue discussing the impacts of climate change to make sure that the EPA finalizes the strongest possible standards.
We hope you’ll join us for the discussion! You can RSVP here.
