Join us on May 7th from 9-11am at the Vermillion Aquatic Management Area in Farmington!
We will be working in the oak woodlands bordering the Vermillion River, a cold prairie stream in the heart of Dakota County, for a 15 minute hike and then the hauling pre-cut buckthorn.
Volunteers will be working in an Aquatic Management Area-which are special forms of land protection meant to preserve shoreline property. With creek, lake and river shores being developed throughout the state, the AMA program helps Minnesota preserve public access as well as critical fish and wildlife habitat.
All supplies and training will be provided and volunteers will work closely with FMR Ecologist Alex Roth. This event is part of the Vermillion Stewards program, helping residents learn about the watershed while working to protect and enhance its unique natural resources.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required, for more information please visit: http://fmr.org/events/2016/05/07/haul-buckthorn-vermillion-aquatic-management-area
