The Great Backyard Bird Count is a great way for people of all ages to connect with nature and make a difference for birds. Birds are counting on you!
It’s easy. From February 15 to February 18, simply count the birds you see in your yard or park, or at your local feeder, and enter your list online at www.birdcount.org. You can count once or many times over the 4-day weekend. The website makes it easy to see what other GBBC participants are seeing – whether in your neighborhood, or elsewhere in the U.S. or Canada
If you’re a new birder it’s a great way to learn more and have fun at the same time. If you’re an experienced birder it’s a terrific way to introduce your friends, and family (including children and grandchildren) to be involved. It’s also a great activity for teachers and students. Visit www.birdcount.org for info on how to identify birds, checklists of birds in your area and more. Try one of our Audubon mobile apps to help you identify birds in the field.
Data GBBC participants provides help identify bird population trends that need further scientific investigation.
