Fellows Program 2008 - Wellstone Action

The Wellstone Organizing Fellows program is a six month fellowship designed to place young leaders of color in voter engagement efforts in different communities and organizations. The fellowship will run from January-June of 2008. Fellows will receive one full month of training in January and will work with a community-based organizing project from February-June. Fellows receive ongoing support and mentorship throughout the program. Wellstone Action will administer the program, coordinate with the sponsoring organizations and provide ongoing logistical support to the fellows.

MEP has applied to work with Wellstone Action to sponsor and host an organizer for the 2008 program. Sponsoring organizations manage the fellow in-house, provide the stipend and health care, and ensure that the fellow is deeply involved in their voter engagement and base-building work. We are specifically interested in sponsoring a fellow that would be based in northwestern Minnesota to connect with the Native American communities in that region of the state on environmentally related issues; this includes the White Earth, Red Lake and Leech Lake reservations.
