Join tribes, grassroots organizations, citizen groups, elected officials, labor unions, regulators, attorneys, landowners, and others for a 2-day summit on the rapid expansion of extractive industry in Minnesota. We are being beseiged with new fossil-fuel infrastructure, from oil trains to pipelines to frac-sand mines, and we are not prepared. We need to take a holistic view and coordinate across regions and at all levels of government. Come to teach, learn, and connect with allies working to protect our land, water, and health!
Saturday March 21, will be a solutions oriented session, from 9 AM to 2 PM. There will be presentations by Minnesota House Representative Frank Hornstein, Winona LaDuke from Honor the Earth and Victor Menotti, from the International Forum on Globalization. Then, individuals will present solution frameworks that could potentially help citizens regain greater control across all three extractive industries – oil by pipeline, oil by rail and frack sand mining.
There will be break out sessions by solution framework over lunch.
