Word out of Washington is that the House and Senate are (finally) closing in on a longer-term extension of the federal transportation bill. Such an agreement would be an important step, but rumblings also suggest that funding for walking and biking projects (about 1.5 percent of federal transportation funding) will be cut or eliminated as part of the deal.

Today, a broad coalition of groups supporting clean air safeguards announced they have collected more than two million comments in support of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Carbon Pollution Standard, which limits industrial carbon pollution from new power plants.
